As in recovery my self I have told my husband and kids there older and married if I pick up to never let me in house or see my grandkids I know this illness once it has got you it destroys everything your love ones friends it like a devil indeed you that feeds on everything that gets you out off your head so believe me that woman knows what she talking about
why can’t we share these anymore?
Family takes care of family and that’s that. This lady doesn’t get it.
This lady is one of the worst mothers I have ever heard. You cant do this alone, and you need someone to help you get through this. Family takes care of family and that’s that.
You have no ideal what that mums gone through let go I done it to my son now he 11yrs clean
Awesome!!! A must listen for parents!!!
This woman sounds like a monster of a mother. Just cause you were sober when you raised him doesn’t mean you’re infallible. He has a bunch of problems and you say it’s not your fault, but when he turns his life around you take all the credit with your “tough love”. Self-centered indeed.

What’s the alternative?
This is true AA. I could listen to Katie and Charlie and old Mark H tapes and hear something relevant each and EVERY TIME. The message is broken down so that even an alcoholic like me can understand
Funny, irreverent speaker. Nice section pertinent to parents of alcoholics on how important it is to understand exactly what the disease of alcoholism actually is. The process of triggering the allergy – and how most people who are allergic to things avoid them – except alcoholics. How the mental obsession blocks all sense of consequences that will come after the first drink.
“The malady of sobriety” – restless, irritable, discontent. Explanation of how it is not a moral problem.
